Some weddings just stay with you and David and Sally’s wedding at the Fife Lodge in Banff was
one of those days that I’ll never forget. It was beautiful from start to finish, filled with warmth,
sunshine, and genuine emotion.
This one was extra special for me personally, as I work closely with David’s mum and have known
both David and Sally for quite some time. Seeing two people you know so well tie the knot, and in
such a heartfelt way, made the whole day feel even more meaningful. Honestly, they’re couple goals.
You just can’t get two people more perfectly suited to one another.
The day began with Sally getting ready at the Fife Lodge, with her sister Lisa, who was also her
bridesmaid, the brides mum, and the sweetest little flower girl, who completely stole the show. The
room was full of smiles, excitement, and that wonderful sense of anticipation that builds as the
morning unfolds. Hair and makeup were in full swing, and everyone was relaxed and full of joy.
Sally looked absolutely breathtaking in what might be one of the most elegant wedding dresses I’ve
ever seen. It suited her perfectly it was timeless, beautifully detailed, and full of quiet grace that
reflected her personality so well. As guests began to arrive the buzz began especially when
everyone seen the tractors (yes, tractors!) outside, a few excited nerves finally kicked in for Sally, but
it only added to the atmosphere.
Their ceremony was conducted by the lovely Janet Donnelly, who made it incredibly personal and
heartfelt, even she was wiping away a few tears. David and Sally took part in the traditional tying of
the knot, a beautiful Scottish ritual symbolising their unity. David wore his late father’s kilt, a deeply
touching tribute that made it feel as though his dad was right there with them in spirit.
After the ceremony, we headed to Duff House for some portraits it really is the perfect location with
its grand architecture and peaceful grounds. Sally’s sister, David’s best man and of course little Ayla
joined us, and we had such a fun, relaxed session together. I brought along a camera so we could
get a few Polaroid shots, which later ended up on their wedding cake as part of the topper. A lovely
personal touch that brought everything together beautifully.
Back at the Fife Lodge, the celebrations continued with plenty of energy and a brilliant surprise
during the meal, David’s mum had arranged for singing waiters to entertain the guests! They had
everyone up on their feet, clapping and singing along, and it set the tone for an evening full of
happiness and great atmosphere.
Then came the first dance, a beautiful moment set to a song that clearly held special meaning for
the couple. From there, the band kept the dance floor packed as the sun set over Banff, marking the
end of what truly was a perfect day.
The weather couldn’t have been better, warm, golden sunshine that lasted right through the
evening, making the whole day feel like a little slice of summer magic.
Congratulations again to Mr & Mrs Petrie – David and Sally – on such a wonderful day. Thank you for
trusting me to capture it all; it was an absolute joy to be part of your story.
From your wedding day to baby bump pics, I cover it all!
