The Codman Wedding – A Scottish Fairytale on Craigellachie Bridge
What a dream of a day! Honestly, this wedding has been on my photography bucket list for so long — and it finally happened. The Codman wedding took place on none other than the iconic Craigellachie Bridge, right here in beautiful Moray. If you know the area, you’ll know how special this spot is — with its sweeping views over the River Spey and those bold, castle-like turrets designed by Thomas Telford. It’s Scottish drama at its finest, and the perfect stage for a love story.
An Intimate Day, Packed with Big Moments
Isla and Sam chose to keep things small, personal and heartfelt — and that made the day feel even more magical. I met Sam at the bridge before guests began arriving, and I have to say, he was absolutely owning his look. A tweed suit, and pulling it off so well! It’s not something we see too often in this part of the world, but he made it look like it was made for him.
As the guests began to gather, the wind joined us too — which actually just added to the whole atmosphere. There’s something beautifully raw about standing on that bridge, surrounded by nature and history, with the Spey rushing below. Even with the breeze, the setting was nothing short of spectacular.
A Bride with Style (and Doc Martens!)
And then Isla arrived — and wow. A total vision. Her dress was straight out of a fairytale — flowing and elegant — and then she topped it off with a pair of classic Doc Martens, which honestly just made my day. It suited her, and it suited the bridge. Perfectly effortless and cool.
The ceremony was led by a brilliant registrar who didn’t let the wind faze her one bit — a true professional! It was intimate, emotional, and everything Isla and Sam had hoped for.
Photos, Woods, and a Whole Lot of Love
We grabbed some lovely group shots straight after the ceremony so the guests could make their way to the next venue — the charming Craigellachie Hotel. Then came one of my favourite parts of the day: the couples’ photos.
I couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop. Between the river, the bridge, the surrounding woodlands… it was a photographer’s paradise. And with these two — so in love, so relaxed and natural with each other — every frame just sang.
A Cosy Finish to a Beautiful Day
The celebrations ended with a cosy family meal at the Craigellachie Hotel. The atmosphere was warm, joyful, and full of love — the perfect way to round off a truly special day. Isla and Sam even cut their cake with all their nearest and dearest round. Simple. Beautiful. Just right.
To Mr and Mrs Codman — Wishing You All the Love in the World
Isla and Sam, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day. It was an absolute privilege to capture these memories for you.
With love,
