Ohhh where to start with this absolute belter of a day?! Lauryn and Callum’s wedding at the Kingsmills Hotel was the perfect mix of love, laughter, happy tears and a few “try not to greet or your mascara’ll slide off” moments. The vibes? Immaculate. The people? Lovely. The day? Pure magic.
When I arrived in the morning, Lauryn was just so chilled – the kind of calm that usually only comes from yoga retreats or strong cocktails. Hair and makeup were already well underway, and the room was buzzing with giggles, music, and the kind of excitement that makes your stomach do wee flips. You just knew it was going to be a good one.
Meanwhile, Callum was getting ready over in man-land – and looking pure dapper, might I add. He wore the Clark tartan, this gorgeous rich blue that was bold and brilliant – just like him. What really stood out was the special pin he wore to hold it all together – not just a pretty accessory, but something really meaningful to both him and Lauryn. A lovely wee nod to family and connection. I love when the grooms put that much thought into their details – no pressure, lads, but take note!
Back upstairs, it was full steam ahead for team bride. This is the bit I love – the details. You’ve spent months picking out everything from perfume to earrings to the shoes, and I make sure they all get their moment of fame. If you’ve stress-sweated over a tiny bow on your bouquet, you’d better believe it’s getting its close-up.
As the ceremony got closer, the butterflies were starting to flap. Lauryn slipped into her dress and honestly… she was unreal. Proper showstopper vibes. There was this moment – her up on the balcony, bridesmaids and parents below – and when her dad came to meet her, I swear even the walls were welling up. Just this gorgeous, quiet father-daughter moment before the big aisle walk. Pure emotion – nae filter needed.
Now the ceremony. Buckle up, because this bit was something else. Lauryn’s gran only went and officiated the whole thing – and she was absolutely brilliant! Sweet, funny, and full of heart – you could feel the love in the room. And then… they literally tied the knot. Yup, proper Scottish-style. They took their family tartans and bound them together – a perfect symbol of two clans becoming one. If that doesn’t get you in the feels, I don’t know what will.
When Lauryn walked in, Callum’s face said it all. He looked like the luckiest man in the world – and let’s be honest, he totally is. She was glowing. He was glowing. I was just trying not to fog up the camera lens with emotion.
After the “I do’s” and a few more happy tears, it was onto the fun stuff – photos, banter, and a cracking dip kiss from the new Mr & Mrs. Honestly, this bunch brought the laughs. Natural, joy-filled moments that made my job an absolute breeze.
Then came the speeches – full of brilliant stories, cheeky jokes, and a few more tearjerkers. The dads, the best man, Callum himself – every word just showed how loved these two are. You could feel the pride in the room.
And to top it all off? The first dance. Romantic as heck. The kind of dance that makes everyone go “awww” while secretly wishing they’d remembered tissues. A wee love story on the dance floor, and the perfect ending to an absolutely beautiful day.
Lauryn and Callum – what a day. What a couple. Thanks for letting me be a wee part of it. Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and always finding your tartan match.
